Adoption guidelines

We are delighted that you’re considering adopting one of our rescue cats. At Winnie’s Whisker Warriors, we are committed to finding loving and forever homes for our feline friends. Our adoption process is designed to ensure that both our cats and their new families are a perfect match.

In this section, you’ll find all the information you need about our adoption guidelines, the steps involved, and how to prepare for bringing a new furry friend into your home. Application & Eligibility

• Age Requirement: Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
• Application Form: Applicant must complete a detailed adoption application that includes information about your household, living situation, pet experience, and references.
• Adoption Fee: A non-refundable fee is required to help cover medical expenses such as vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and other care costs.

home environment & safety

• Living Situation: Applicant will provide details about your home environment. If renting, include proof of landlord permission for pet ownership.
• Other Pets: If you have other pets, explain how you plan to introduce and integrate the new cat safely.
• Safe Space: Ensure that your home has designated areas (e.g., quiet spaces, litter box areas) that are safe and suitable for a cat’s needs.
• Outdoor Access: If the cat will have outdoor access, confirm that the area is secure and that the cat will be supervised if required.

Screening & interview Process

• Interview/Home Visit: Expect to participate in a screening interview or a home visit. This helps us ensure that the cat will be placed in a loving, safe, and appropriate environment.
• Background Check: In some cases, a background check or reference verification may be conducted to protect the welfare of the cat.

Adoption Contract

• Commitment Agreement: All adopters must sign an adoption contract that outlines the responsibilities of pet ownership, including routine veterinary care, proper nutrition, and ongoing attention.
• Spay/Neuter Agreement: If the cat has not already been spayed or neutered, the contract will include a commitment to do so by a specified date.
• Return Policy: If unforeseen circumstances arise, the adopter agrees to return the cat to the rescue rather than surrendering it to a shelter or transferring ownership without prior consultation.

Post-Adoption Support & Follow-Up

• Follow-Up Checks: The rescue reserves the right to perform follow-up calls or home visits to ensure the cat’s well-being.
• Support Resources: New adopters will have access to resources and advice on pet care. We encourage you to reach out if you encounter any issues or have questions about your new companion.
• Emergency Contact: Maintain open communication with the rescue so that, in case of emergencies or behavioral concerns, we can assist as needed.

General Guidelines

• Lifelong Commitment: Adopting a cat is a lifelong commitment. Prospective adopters must demonstrate the ability and willingness to care for the animal throughout its life.
• No Trial Period: Once the adoption contract is signed, the terms are binding. There is no “trial period.”
• Honesty & Transparency: Any misrepresentation or dishonesty in the application process may result in the adoption being denied.
• Right to Refuse: The rescue reserves the right to decline any adoption application if we believe it is not in the best interest of the cat.
